The refreshing seasonal flavors of Nuwara Eliya's signature gardens.
The bright and high-spirited green aroma is in harmony with the refreshing flavor unique to seasonal Nuwara Eliya black tea, making for a good iced tea.
Nuwara Eliya black tea, produced in high-grown areas at high altitudes, is at its best from January to March, when the dry seasonal winds blow down from the east side of the island across the central mountain range. Black tea at this time of year is characterized by a crisp aroma like mint and cypress, and a refreshing aftertaste. The unique flavor produced by the favorable climatic conditions of the high altitude, the temperature difference between day and night and moderate rainfall, is highly regarded as high-quality Ceylon tea.
Lover's Leap Tea Plantation, located in the central highlands of Sri Lanka, is part of Pedro Tea Plantation, which was established in 1885. Lover's Leap Tea Plantation tea, which is produced at an altitude of 1,828m or more, is also called the champagne of Ceylon tea. The total area of the Pedro Tea Estate is approximately 230 hectares, with an area of approximately 150 hectares dedicated to Lover's Leap. Known for producing the finest Ceylon tea, it produces many teas each year.
The estate's name comes from a tragic legend about young lovers who jumped from the nearby Lover's Leap Waterfall. Surrounded by breathtaking scenery, the area is fragrant with the soothing menthol scent that wafts from the surrounding eucalyptus, cypress and wild mint bushes.
