Alishan (Mt. Ali) is a large mountain range that has 18 peaks with an elevation of more than 2000m and runs 250km across the island of Taiwan. In the early 1980s, the cultivation of tea started in the middle region of the mountain range, and has been in the spotlight ever since. There are many Alishan tea gardens between 1,000 and 2,300M above sea level, making this region the largest production area of alpine tea in Taiwan.
