MATCHA "YAME" GOKOU

A rare matcha from Yame, Fukuoka, a tea-producing region of Kyushu.

This rare matcha from Yame is made from the Gokou variety, which is characterized by its mellow fragrance, unique flavor, and sweet aftertaste. The deep, rich light green color is also beautiful.

Yame Matcha Gokou Stone-ground uses the first-grade tea from the Gokou variety, which is grown in Yame, a tea-growing area in Fukuoka, Kyushu. It is particularly suitable for gyokuro and matcha because it is resistant to covering.

Gokou has a thick leaf flesh, so it is pertinent to cover it early to keep the leaves soft and growing until it can be picked- this requires the skills of a producer who has been cultivating tea for many years. As there are only a limited number of producers among Yame tea, it can be said to be a particularly rare variety among Yame matcha.
In addition, by covering the Gokou variety until it becomes gyokuro (20 days or more), which has a distinctive fragrance, the mellow, unique fragrance and deep flavor are accentuated.
