Margaret's Hope tea estate was founded in 1865, and it is located near the town of Kurseong in central Darjeeling at an altitude of 915 to 1,830 meters. The tea garden is named after the daughter of the former English owner, Mr. Cruikshank. His daughter, who loved this tea plantation, had to leave to get married in her homeland. In 1927, the name of the tea garden was changed from Bara-Ringtong to Margaret's Hope in her memory, as she sadly passed away on the return voyage, despite her strong desire to return to this tea estate.
The estate is best known for authentic Darjeeling, cultivating a Chinese variety tea plant with great richness and flavor. In recent years it has also been producing tea of outstanding quality for the clonal market.
